PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pope Cozad (ranked 23572 p4p, 1712 weight class) and Alec Harvey (ranked 446 p4p, 167 weight class). Cozad comes into the arena with Spirit In The Sky- Norman Greenbaum blaring out of the sound system. Harvey has chosen I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - Choke as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Pope Cozad had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvey wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Cozad throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Harvey sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Harvey dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cozad throws a body shot but no joy.
Harvey cracks Cozad with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Cozad walks into a stiff left hand from Harvey.
Cozad on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Harvey clobbers Cozad with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Harvey changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Harvey has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Cozad is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Harvey punishes Cozad's body with a nice straight punch.
Cozad takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cozad steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Harvey.

Harvey bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cozad's head backwards.
The fighters circling - Cozad throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Harvey connects with a looping right hand.

Cozad takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Harvey is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cozad had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Harvey scores with a jab. Cozad acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Harvey displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cozad throws out the jab.

Cozad closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Harvey! Cozad dives in looking to finish! Harvey is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
