Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zoltan Lazar (ranked 1564 p4p, 3607 weight class) and Jakobe Barker (ranked 199 p4p, 386 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zoltan Lazar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jakobe Barker!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barker moves in looking to clinch but Lazar pushes him off.
Zoltan Lazar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lazar chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Barker can pounce on him.
Barker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Lazar rushes Barker and presses him up against the cage.
Lazar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Barker gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Barker has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Lazar has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Barker after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zoltan Lazar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lazar goes for a takedown in the clinch but Barker prevents it.
Lazar is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lazar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lazar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
You can see the frustration on Barker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Barker gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Barker is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Lazar is staying active.
Lazar prevents Barker from improving his position.
Barker misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Barker is trying to control but can't.

Lazar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barker defends it well.
Barker works his way to full guard. Good work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lazar won't allow Barker to sweep him here.
Lazar chips away with some ground and pound.
Lazar lands a couple of digs.
Barker keeping moving, preventing Lazar from controlling successfully.

Barker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lazar trying to control the position from guard on top but Barker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lazar distracts Barker with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lazar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lazar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Barker is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lazar is controlling him.
Barker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lazar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lazar passes Barker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lazar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Lazar passes the guard and advances to mount!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barker can do anything to dispel that myth.
