Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michal Materla (ranked 25141 p4p, 4121 weight class) and Violent Nut Smasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michal Materla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Violent Nut Smasher!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Watson and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smasher closes the distance looking to clinch
and Materla counters with a nice body shot.
Materla tries a head kick but it misses.
Smasher shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Materla but Materla pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Smasher shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smasher showed some decent athleticism there.
Materla tries to kick Smasher off but Smasher keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smasher postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Materla to stand up.
Smasher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smasher wants it to stay on the feet.

and Materla counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Materla enables Smasher to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Materla manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Materla in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smasher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smasher wants it to stay on the feet.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Materla shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smasher napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Materla will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Materla shoots in looking for a takedown. Smasher tries to sprawl out of it but Materla keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smasher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smasher looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Materla drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smasher pulls his leg out and moves away.

Smasher tries to keep at a distance but Materla has taken the fight into the clinch.
Materla has Smasher pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Materla pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Smasher tumbling to the mat - Materla dives into Smasher's guard.
Smasher kicks Materla off and gets to his feet.
Materla throws a series of punches but Smasher moves out of range.
Materla moves into range and clinches up with Smasher.
Smasher tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Materla smiles and moves away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
