PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 4154 p4p, 4151 weight class) and Maimonedes Aharon (ranked 0 p4p, 187 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Jones works on Aharon's body with a couple of short punches.
Aharon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Jones manages to pull guard.

Aharon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Aharon throws a big elbow that misses.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aharon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aharon stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is looking for a sweep. Aharon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones lands with a few short shots to the body.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones clinches up with Aharon and pushes him back against the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Aharon fails with the takedown.

Aharon gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Aharon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
