PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dirt Diggler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oskari Jokinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diggler comes to the cage accompanied by Die MF Die. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dirt Diggler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oskari Jokinen!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen throws a nice inside leg kick.

Diggler feints and as Jokinen raises his hands in defense, Diggler changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Diggler is looking to advance position but Jokinen has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Diggler is in all sorts of trouble here.
Diggler is working hard here to advance position.
Diggler bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jokinen can't keep his opponent in guard - Diggler advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Diggler seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Jokinen has recovered full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Dirt Diggler will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diggler is on top in guard.
Diggler seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Diggler is stalling here. Jokinen is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Diggler seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jokinen has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Diggler is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Jokinen is in real trouble.

Jokinen wants to pass the guard but Diggler is keeping the position.

Diggler had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jokinen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Diggler Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jokinen's back instead.

Diggler has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jokinen has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Diggler is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jokinen defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Will Diggler go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Diggler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jokinen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diggler goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jokinen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Diggler but great work by Jokinen.

Jokinen has the hooks in. Diggler is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Diggler breaks Jokinen's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Diggler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jokinen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diggler has Jokinen in his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diggler wants to hit a switch here but Jokinen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Diggler there!
Diggler is in all sorts of trouble here.

Jokinen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Diggler has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Diggler!

and Diggler holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Oskari Jokinen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jokinen tries a knee to the head but Diggler blocks it.

Diggler wants the takedown. Jokinen is fighting it off but Diggler persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jokinen's guard against the cage.
Diggler pushes down on Jokinen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jokinen is in trouble now - Diggler has advanced to mount!
Jokinen can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jokinen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Diggler is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jokinen has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jokinen!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dirt Diggler.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diggler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
