PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dechen Tsering (ranked 4213 p4p, 4030 weight class) and Gamma Elit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dechen Tsering!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gamma Elit!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Tsering misses with a takedown attempt - Elit sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Elit lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tsering gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Elit counters with a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Elit leaves Tsering with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dechen Tsering. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Elit gets a clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Elit presses Tsering against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Elit lands a shoulder strike.

It looks like Dechen Tsering has been cut.
Tsering tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Elit smiles and moves away.
Gamma Elit is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Elit moves into the clinch.

Elit presses Tsering against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Tsering is breathing heavily.
Elit gets through Tsering's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Elit is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Tsering tries to pull guard but Elit holds him up against the cage and eventually Tsering drops back down to his feet.

Elit pushes Tsering back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Elit creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Elit slowing the pace effectively.
Tsering is trying to pull guard but Elit turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Elit throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Come on Elit - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Elit stalls.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Gamma Elit.

Elit has managed to clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gamma Elit dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dechen Tsering's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Elit moves into the clinch.
Tsering tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Elit has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Elit softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Elit is pushing Tsering up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Tsering is trying to pull guard but Elit turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elit floors Tsering with a big punch on the inside! Tsering is trying to recover but Elit dives into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Elit controls the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Elit tries to stand but Tsering is controlling his head.
Elit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tsering. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Elit remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Let's hope that Elit has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Elit misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tsering manages to get back to half guard.
Elit throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Tsering avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Elit.
Elit sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tsering defending well though.
Elit controlling the action here.

Elit missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Tsering looking for submissions off his back.

Tsering avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Elit.
Elit takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Tsering is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Elit pulls his head out easily.

Tsering actively working from the bottom here.
Elit with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Tsering regains full guard. Nicely done.

Elit got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tsering has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Elit has managed to get both his arms back between Tsering's legs - danger averted.

Tsering looking for a guillotine here but Elit defends easily.
Elit is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tsering will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Elit throws a big right hand that misses.

Elit is posturing up here but Tsering has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Elit tries to roll out but it's too tight and Elit has to tap! Slick submission there by Tsering!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dechen Tsering!
Gamma Elit spoke after the fight, saying 'I'll be back!'.
