Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scooter Dahan (ranked 4746 p4p, 3489 weight class) and Lamont Banner (ranked 320 p4p, 247 weight class). Lamont Banner will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lamont Banner!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dahan has his takedown stuffed
and Banner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Banner lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dahan circles away quickly and effectively.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looked like Dahan was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Horrible takedown attempt by Dahan or perhaps it was just good defense by Banner, which made it look bad.

and Banner counters with a three punch combo that has Dahan backing up. Dahan nods at Banner to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dahan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Banner was covering up waiting for the punch and Dahan finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Banner is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Dahan presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dahan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Banner is trying to escape back to his feet but Dahan uses the scramble to pass into side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Banner can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dahan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

In his post fight interview, Lamont Banner started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
