And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 57 wins and 40 losses; Vasiliy Kulik!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

McDonald shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McDonald was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kulik sneaks back into half guard.
Kulik is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kulik is refusing to be controlled, as McDonald sits in half guard.
McDonald wants to pass the guard but Kulik is defending well.
Kulik has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at KFA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Kulik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Let's hope that Kulik has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
McDonald wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kulik keeps working.

We've been hearing good reports from McDonald's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Kulik stays in close to McDonald's body and controls the position.
McDonald might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McDonald wants to sweep but no luck.

McDonald is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McDonald has Kulik pulled in close to control his posture.

Kulik wants to pass the guard but McDonald is keeping the position.

Kulik controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

McDonald has an active guard here but Kulik has managed to pass into half guard.

Kulik tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kulik is looking to work his way around to McDonald's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
McDonald is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
McDonald tries to reverse the position but Kulik maintains control.

That's ten minutes gone in the round.
McDonald tries to control Kulik's body but Kulik pushes him off. McDonald squirms to his side and now Kulik has his back!

Good control from Kulik.
McDonald really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Kulik's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
Kulik has good solid back control here.

McDonald rolls, trying to escape but Kulik keeps control of the position.
McDonald trying to control the position but Kulik manages to sink in the hooks.
Kulik is riding his opponent, not letting McDonald buck him off.
You can see the frustration on McDonald's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Kulik gets his hands free as McDonald looks to control.

Kulik has good solid back control here.
McDonald breaks Kulik's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Kulik is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

McDonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Kulik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kulik sitting in guard, not really doing much.
McDonald looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kulik is one step ahead there.

Kulik is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kulik wins on points by 10 to 9.
An out of breath Vasiliy Kulik thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
