Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harold Cordova!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Saunders!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Saunders enables Cordova to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Saunders manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Cordova controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cordova is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cordova throwing strikes but missing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cordova thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Cordova is stalling in the full guard.

Cordova passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Cordova tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cordova has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Cordova has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Saunders lands with a straight right. Cordova didn't see that one coming.

Saunders throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
A nice right hand lands inside from Saunders.
Saunders lands a left hand.

Cordova pulls guard successfully.
Saunders is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cordova is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saunders controlling from the top position.
Cordova is trying to control the position but Saunders postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Saunders scores with a body shot.
Saunders keeps the fight on the outside.
Saunders cracks Cordova with a good jab.

Saunders clinches up against the cage.
A body shot lands from Saunders.
A left hand lands to the body for Saunders.
Cordova is breathing heavily.
Cordova is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Saunders pushes Cordova back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Saunders lands a nice uppercut.
Still in the clinch, Saunders scores with a nice short uppercut.
Saunders lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Saunders stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Saunders works on Cordova's body with a couple of short punches.
Saunders lands a body punch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Still in the clinch, Saunders scores with a nice short uppercut.

Cordova looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Saunders lands with a left to the head.
Saunders keeps control of Cordova as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Saunders lands with a light punch inside.
Saunders scores with a nice hook to the head.
Cordova wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cordova tries to pull guard but Saunders won't allow it.
Saunders is pressed up against the cage. Cordova has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Saunders down to the mat. Saunders avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Cordova takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Saunders lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Cordova up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Saunders from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Cordova's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Saunders!
A very excited looking John Saunders made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
