Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Angel Wong (ranked 4291 p4p, 4424 weight class) and Bobby Brubaker (ranked 411 p4p, 418 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angel Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Brubaker!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Wong catches Brubaker right on the button with a cross.

Brubaker rushes Wong and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Wong tries to score a body lock takedown but Brubaker shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Wong dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the ropes.
Wong doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Wong lands an uppercut.

Brubaker has hold of one of Wong's legs. Wong is fighting the takedown attempt but Brubaker gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Wong pulls Brubaker in to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brubaker won't allow Wong to sweep him here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wong closes the distance and pushes Brubaker back into the ropes.

Wong has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Brubaker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Wong is persistently looking for the submission but Brubaker is defending it well.
You can see the frustration on Brubaker's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Wong is looking to control Brubaker but Brubaker is wriggling around and keeping busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

What can Brubaker do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wong is on top in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wong is looking to advance position but Brubaker has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Wong sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That was a close round but I would say that Angel Wong will probably get the nod.

Brubaker is just content to waste time from the top position. Wong takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Wong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wong slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Wong drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Brubaker manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wong has Brubaker in his guard.

Wong wants to sweep but no luck.

Wong wants to hit a sweep here but Brubaker passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wong there!
Wong slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Wong wants to improve his position but Brubaker is controlling well.
Wong makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Wong.
Wong is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Angel Wong.
Well Wong has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
