Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Staton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staton punishes Hughes's body with a nice straight punch.
Staton throws a one two combo.
Hughes misses with a double jab
and Staton counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Hughes clinches up with Staton and pushes him back against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hughes takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Hughes lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Staton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hughes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hughes's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Staton closes the distance but Hughes moves to the side
and Hughes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hughes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Staton sprawls well initially but Hughes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Staton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hughes is working away from the top position though.
Staton slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Staton is breathing heavily.
Hughes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Hughes tries to stand but Staton is controlling from the bottom.

Hughes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Staton, up you get!
Staton fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hughes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Hughes moves into range and clinches up with Staton.
A left hand lands to the body for Hughes.

Hughes gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Staton regains guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hughes lands a nice short elbow.

Staton is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hughes pulls his head out easily.
Hughes wants to stand up but Staton has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hughes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

and Staton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Hughes keeps control of Staton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Hughes creates a bit of distance and unloads a huge uppercut that knocks Staton out cold! The ref dives in to break up the two fighters!
