PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between The Royal Savage (ranked 5424 p4p, 4960 weight class) and KJ Hoodwell (ranked 442 p4p, 413 weight class). Hoodwell has chosen Paralyzer as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 1, fighting out of New York, The Royal Savage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, KJ Hoodwell!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hoodwell moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Savage lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hoodwell circles away quickly and effectively.
And Hoodwell tries to counter it with a takedown but Savage pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Savage swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Hoodwell to counter with a crisp jab.
Hoodwell takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hoodwell on the wrong end of a nice hook.
The Royal Savage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Savage throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hoodwell sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Savage lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Hoodwell sprawling to the canvas. Savage follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Hoodwell hang on?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Savage trying to mount his opponent but Hoodwell defends it.
Hoodwell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hoodwell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Savage.
Savage drops an elbow to the side of Hoodwell's head.
Savage not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hoodwell wants to get back to his feet.

Hoodwell makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoodwell slips a jab and a cross from Savage.

Savage drops his shoulder and cracks Hoodwell with a huge uppercut! Hoodwell goes down! Can Savage finish him?

Hoodwell is rocked!
Savage gets to his feet and stands over Hoodwell, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Hoodwell felt that one! Savage unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Hoodwell from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Royal Savage!
After winning the bout, The Royal Savage thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
