Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Ping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddie Mays (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ping might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Open Hapiness. Pierre Ping has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Pierre Ping!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Freddie Mays!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ping moves into the clinch.
Mays tries to break free but Ping pushes him back against the ropes.

Ping breaks the clinch.
Ping avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Ping closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ping lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Ping wants to control from the top but Mays keeps moving.
Ping seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mays keeping moving, preventing Ping from controlling successfully.
Ping might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mays escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ping gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ping is looking to stand up but Mays won't let him.
Mays has control of Ping's left arm, preventing Ping from doing any damage.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mays throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ping controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ping pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mays is keeping the position for now.
Ping is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mays controls Ping momentarily but Ping frees himself.
Ping slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ping is looking to advance position but Mays has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ping holds on to Mays as tight as he can, avoiding damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ping bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Mays looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ping has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ping seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ping has gone for a leg lock! Mays slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ping's guard.
Ping is breathing heavily.

Mays drops back looking for a leg! Ping is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ping manages to kick Mays off! Mays jumps back into Ping's guard.
Ping trying to keep a closed guard but Mays is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pierre Ping dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mays closes the distance and clinches up with Ping, looking for a takedown. Mays pushes Ping against the ropes but Ping circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mays displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ping.
Ping dives in and grabs Mays's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mays pushes down on Ping's head and hops out.
Mays shoots and misses

and Ping holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mays goes for a takedown attempt but Ping pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pierre Ping has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddie Mays.

Mays rushes Ping and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Ping fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ping misses with a body punch.
Mays working hard to break the clinch.
Ping has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mays is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mays goes for a takedown attempt but Ping pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mays stalks Ping and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ping's face. Ping staggers backwards, shaken.

Mays's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Mays duly obliges.
Mays tries to clinch up.
Mays closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Ping fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ping gets caught flat footed, as Mays shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mays preventing the sweep.
Ping preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mays pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ping is keeping the position for now.
Mays trying to control but Ping is working from the bottom.

Mays drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mays jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mays wants to get up but he can't break Ping's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mays got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ping has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mays has managed to get both his arms back between Ping's legs - danger averted.
Mays won't allow Ping to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mays getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Freddie Mays seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mays is looking to clinch but Ping is avoiding it.
Ping shoots for a takedown but Mays saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ping displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mays.

and Ping counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mays won't be happy with that.

Ping decides to stand back up.

Ping closes the distance and pushes Mays back into the ropes.
Ping keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mays's efforts to push away.

Mays softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes.
Mays wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ping lands a nice knee to the body.

Ping breaks the clinch.
Ping doesn't manage to clinch there - Mays circles away.
Nice shot lands for Mays.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mays looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mays shoots and misses

and Ping moves into the clinch.

Ping breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mays misses with a takedown attempt - Ping sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mays lands a nice looking body kick.
Mays throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ping's waist but Ping gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mays off to one side.
Nice takedown defense from Mays. No joy for Ping on that attempt.

Mays takes the fight into the clinch.
Mays throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pings head.

Ping breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ping shoots in for a takedown but Mays shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pierre Ping is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Ping counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mays!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pierre Ping will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Ping decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ping is just content to waste time from the top position. Mays takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Ping trying to control the position from guard on top but Mays is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mays has control of Ping's left arm, preventing Ping from doing any damage.
Mays looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ping is looking to stand up but Mays won't let him.

Mays is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ping stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mays swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ping slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Mays lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ping!

Mays throws some wild stikes that Ping manages to avoid easily.
Ping can't escape the position.
Ping is just holding on here. Mays manages to take his back.
Mays is hanging on to Ping's back as he tries to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ping looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Mays landing with strikes.
Mays controlling well, preventing Ping from escaping the position.
Ping trying to control the position but Mays manages to sink in the hooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ping rolls, trying to escape but Mays keeps control of the position.

Freddie Mays comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ping has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
