PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kino Hatton (ranked 25543 p4p, 25524 weight class) and Cruz Laime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laime has chosen Chambea as his entrance music. Cruz Laime is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kino Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 10 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cruz Laime!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hatton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hatton works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hatton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Laime is looking to control Hatton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Laime avoid being mounted?
Laime is looking for a sweep. Hatton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A chopping leg kick lands by Laime.
Laime throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hatton fails to land with a series of punches.
Hatton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Laime pinned against the cage. Laime gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Laime steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Hatton.
Laime rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hatton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hatton has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Laime is trying to force a seperation but Hatton has the dominant position.

Hatton manages to pull guard.
Laime is looking to work some ground and pound but Hatton has wrist control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Laime really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hatton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Laime has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hatton is proving hard to escape from.

Hatton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Laime circles away quickly and effectively.
Laime let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kino Hatton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Laime lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Laime.

It seemed like Laime was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Laime steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hatton.

Laime avoids a punch combination nicely.
Laime throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hatton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hatton rushes Laime and presses him up against the cage.

Hatton tightens his grip and picks Laime up, before dumping him to the ground. Laime manages to land in guard.

Laime has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hatton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Laime is trying to hold Hatton in close to prevent damage but Hatton has managed to pass into half guard.

Hatton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Laime for as long as he can get away with.
Hatton's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well Hatton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
