Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Mertel (ranked 3987 p4p, 5742 weight class) and Matt Riddle (ranked 403 p4p, 490 weight class). Mertel kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mertel Cannon. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Riddle!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mertel throws a leg kick that is checked
letting Riddle counter with a right hand.
Mertel takes one on the button.
Riddle gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Mertel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Mertel with a nice calf kick.
Riddle scores with a shot to the body.
Mertel takes a swing at Riddle's ribcage but misses.
Riddle now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Mertel connects with a nice looking jab.
Mertel tries a low kick but Riddle avoids it.
Riddle throws a head kick that misses.
A little feinted left hand from Mertel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Riddle bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Riddle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Matt Riddle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riddle needs to keep his hands up - Mertel had a free shot at his head there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Riddle lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mertel has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mertel and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Mertel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Riddle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Mertel counters with a straight right hand.

Riddle is rocked!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Mertel engages and cracks Riddle with a massive lead left hook - Riddle tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Mertel is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
