PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 23684 p4p, 23933 weight class) and Gakus Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 68 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 54 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga misses with a kick to the body.
Salvacion throws a quick counter kick to the body but Amiga avoids it.

Salvacion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Amiga kicks Salvacion off and gets back to his feet.
Salvacion has a takedown stuffed.
Amiga steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Salvacion stuffs the takedown.

Salvacion shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Amiga manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Let's hope that Amiga has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Salvacion seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Amiga for as long as he can get away with.
Amiga lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Clifford Val Salvacion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gakus Amiga.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to avoid it but Amiga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salvacion to the ground. Salvacion escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Clifford Val Salvacion will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Salvacion gets caught flat footed, as Amiga shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Amiga prevents Salvacion from getting back to his feet.
Amiga is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Amiga is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Amiga is continuing to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Salvacion shoots in but no luck this time.
Amiga throws out a counter right but Salvacion avoids it with no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Amiga is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Salvacion's half guard.
Gakus Amiga has got the better of the ground game so far.
Salvacion is trying to maintain the position but Amiga is very close to passing his half guard.

Amiga has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Salvacion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Amiga is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Amiga shoots in but no luck this time.
Salvacion throws a quick counter kick to the body but Amiga avoids it.

Amiga fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Salvacion sprawls well initially but Amiga persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gakus Amiga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Amiga shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salvacion pinned against the cage. Salvacion gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Amiga as he avoids it easily.
And Amiga responds with a good body kick, but Salvacion manages to step out the way in time.

Amiga closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salvacion circles away.

Salvacion dives in and grabs Amiga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Amiga pushes down on Salvacion's head and hops out.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amiga is looking to take a break and control but Salvacion is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Salvacion is trying to control but can't.
Amiga not doing much here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Salvacion landing rabbit punches to the side of Amiga's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Amiga feints and as Salvacion raises his hands in defense, Amiga changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Salvacion has his feet on Amiga's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clifford Val Salvacion showed his dominance in that final round.
I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
