Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Akilli Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michal Materla!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Materla, which made it look bad.
Materla shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Materla's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Materla.
Jackson leaning against his opponent.
Jackson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The referee calls for Jackson to work.

Materla pulls guard successfully.
Materla keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Materla is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Materla gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Materla misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Materla gets tackled into the cage by Jackson. Jackson maintains the clinch.
Jackson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Jackson gets control of Materla's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jackson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Jackson wants to control but Materla postures up.

Jackson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Jackson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jackson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Materla has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Materla throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Materla is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Materla postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Jackson tries to bench press Materla off him but Materla keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Materla trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jackson tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Materla is hanging on to Jackson's back as he tries to escape.

Materla is looking for the choke from the back position but Jackson is controlling his hands well.
Materla is riding his opponent, not letting Jackson buck him off.

Materla has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Materla controlling well, preventing Jackson from escaping the position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jackson looks to land a combination but Materla avoids it well.
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jackson drives through and clinches with Materla against the cage.
Materla wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Materla has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Materla is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Materla tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Materla fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Materla moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Materla is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Materla lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively.

Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Materla swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Materla is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Materla manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Materla's guard.

Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Jackson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Materla, pushing him back against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Jackson is trying to drag Materla to the mat but Materla just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jackson pulls guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson trying to control the position.
Materla lands a couple of elbows.
Jackson wants to sweep here but Materla controlling him for the moment.
Materla is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Materla has managed to sneak the leg through.
Still in half guard, Materla seems content to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Jackson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akilli Jackson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
