PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobo Valdenius (ranked 2151 p4p, 1157 weight class) and Hunter Hendricks (ranked 265 p4p, 149 weight class). Hendricks has chosen Cowboy - Kid Rock as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bobo Valdenius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hunter Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks swings for the body but Valdenius moves out of range.
A low kick from Hendricks misses

and Valdenius counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hendricks won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hendricks is not content to let Valdenius control the position.

Valdenius is trying to get an arm triangle but Hendricks is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valdenius wants to control but Hendricks is keeping him busy.

Hunter Hendricks dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hendricks throws a body punch but Valdenius moves out of range.
Valdenius tries to counter with a takedown but Hendricks is quick to defend against it.
Hendricks scores with a hook to the body. Valdenius takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hendricks lands a nice shot to the body.
A right-left combo lands from Hendricks.
A combination from Hendricks does no damage.
Hendricks misses with a low kick.
Valdenius changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Valdenius has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hendricks.
Hendricks has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Valdenius is landing a low percentage of strikes.

and Hendricks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Valdenius sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hendricks's guard.

Hendricks pushes Valdenius off looking to stand but Valdenius dives back in and keeps control.
Still in half guard, Valdenius seems content to control.
Bobo Valdenius overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hendricks controlling the position well.
Valdenius trying to pass the guard but Hendricks defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valdenius is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Valdenius perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Valdenius looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Valdenius is controlling the pace.

Valdenius has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hendricks throws a right hand that Valdenius ducks under and follows up with a left that Valdenius also avoids with ease.

Hendricks gets caught napping as Valdenius dives in and scores a takedown. Hendricks manages to retain guard.

Valdenius is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hendricks is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hendricks has escaped and now he's on top!

Valdenius might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Valdenius has his feet on Hendricks's thighs here. He's pushed Hendricks off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Hendricks screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
