Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roddy Bowes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Van (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowes clobbers Van with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Van shoots in for a takedown but Bowes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bowes scores with a nice strike.
Van shoots for a double leg takedown but Bowes sprawls well. He's pushed Van 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bowes throws a head kick but Van moves out of range.
Bowes thows a body shot but no joy.
Van misses with a takedown attempt - Bowes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Roddy Bowes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Van .
Bowes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Van tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bowes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Van somewhat.
Van fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bowes clinches with his opponent.
A left hand lands to the body for Bowes.
Bowes lands with a left to the head.

Van looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bowes creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Van 's defenses.

It looks like Alexander Van has been cut.
Bowes scores with a knee to the head.
Bowes lands a body punch.
Bowes lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Bowes gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Bowes lands a left hand.

Van is rocked!

Bowes crunches a lovely knee into Van 's ribcage.
Van is still on wobbly legs! Can Bowes finish him?

Bowes lands a big elbow that sends Van down! Van recovers to guard.
Van is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Van is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bowes wants to stand but Van is controlling his posture from full guard.
Van seems to have recovered his senses.
Bowes is stalling in the full guard.
Bowes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Van had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bowes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Van Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bowes's back instead.
Van gets his hands free as Bowes looks to control.
Bowes just looking to survive in the bad position.

Van looking for the choke but no joy.
Bowes really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Van 's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bowes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Van gets his way!

Van controls Bowes momentarily but Bowes frees himself.
Van tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Van has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bowes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bowes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Horrible takedown by Van or perhaps it was just good defense by Bowes which made him look bad.

Bowes feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Van crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
