The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kostaja misses with a few strikes there.
Rantalainen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Simo Rantalainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rantalainen slips under a jab.
Kostaja wants to clinch.
Kostaja throws out a loose jab but Rantalainen uses good head movement to avoid it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rantalainen.
Rantalainen landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

It looks like Kalevi Kostaja has been cut.
Kostaja is pushing Rantalainen's head away, looking to escape. Rantalainen manages to hold on to the position though.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Rantalainen cracks Kostaja with a big right hand but Kostaja just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kostaja is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rantalainen has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Kostaja is looking to regain half guard here but Rantalainen keeps moving and retains side control.

Kostaja explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Kostaja throws the left hand but Rantalainen avoids the punch easily.

Rantalainen gets the takedown into side control.

Kostaja is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Rantalainen advances nicely into full mount.
Rantalainen prevents Kostaja from getting the reversal.

Rantalainen wants to finish this one by submission but Kostaja is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rantalainen.
Rantalainen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rantalainen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rantalainen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Rantalainen lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Kalevi Kostaja's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kalevi Kostaja's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
