The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aguilera scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Mendosa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Mendosa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Aguilera is trying to get an arm triangle but Mendosa is defending well.

Aguilera throws a hook but Mendosa blocks it.
Mendosa could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

so Aguilera counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mendosa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mendosa has his foot on Aguilera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aguilera works his way back into a safe position though.

Mendosa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aguilera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aguilera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mendosa is breathing heavily.

Aguilera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aguilera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Aguilera thows a big elbow that misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aguilera maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mendosa could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Aguilera has cracked it and Mendosa is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Aguilera!
