Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Braden Meyers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Denzel Hastings!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyers is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Hastings tries to close the distance and clinch but Meyers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hastings blocks a jab.
And Hastings tries to counter it with a takedown but Meyers pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hastings misses with a hook to the body
and Meyers counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hastings fails with the takedown.
Hastings showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Meyers.

Meyers is looking for a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hastings lands a left and a right that send Meyers crashing to the mat, dazed. Hastings thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Braden Meyers has been cut.

Hastings dives in for a single leg takedown but Meyers sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Hastings makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Meyers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Meyers in particular looking to stall.

Meyers seems to be working for a kimura but Hastings defends the submission attempt.

Meyers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hastings has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Meyers slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meyers seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hastings for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Meyers has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
