Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Menes Kai (ranked 3337 p4p, 3142 weight class) and Panfilo Acerbi (ranked 331 p4p, 309 weight class). Kai comes to the cage accompanied by The Astronaut - Jin. Acerbi has chosen Boom Boom Boom Boom - Venga Boys as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Panfilo Acerbi!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acerbi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kai tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kai lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Acerbi backs up against the cage.

It looks like Panfilo Acerbi has been cut.
Kai defending well as Acerbi loads up on a big left hand.
Kai is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Kai throws the left hand but Acerbi avoids the punch easily.
Acerbi throws a push kick but Kai slaps the foot to one side.
Kai connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kai has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Final Mile in the buildup to the fight.
A left and a right from Acerbi both land. Nice combination.
Kai lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It seemed like Acerbi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Kai throws a hook to the side of Acerbi's head but Acerbi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Acerbi! But no joy.

Menes Kai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kai loads up on a big right hand but Acerbi slips the punch.
Kai throws a big shot that misses.
Acerbi misses with a hook. Kai ducked under it nicely.
Acerbi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kai lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Acerbi circles away quickly and effectively.

and Acerbi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kai's knee momentarily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kai throws a head kick but Acerbi moves out of range.

Kai lands a nice shot to the body.
Kai is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A jab from Acerbi misses.
Acerbi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Kai is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Acerbi.

and Acerbi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Acerbi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Kai ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Acerbi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kai.
Acerbi avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Acerbi looks to score with a jab to the body but Kai is just out of range.
Kai tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Acerbi was well out of range. Poor timing from Kai.
Acerbi throws a hook but Kai avoids it easily.
Acerbi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice defenses there by Acerbi.

Kai is rocked!
Kai gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Acerbi gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Kai is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
