PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rick Victor (ranked 5150 p4p, 4330 weight class) and Zaid Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Victor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sims was covering up waiting for the punch and Victor finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Victor slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Sims lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Victor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sims defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sims thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Victor is looking for a triangle but Sims pushes his legs off easily.

Sims throws a strike but Victor rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sims is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sims accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sims drops back looking for a leg! Victor is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Victor manages to kick Sims off! Sims jumps back into Victor's guard.
Victor is breathing heavily.
Sims throws a big elbow that misses.
Sims tries to free his leg and advance position but Victor is retaining full guard.
Victor is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Sims decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Victor, up you get!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sims might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Victor haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sims is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Victor wants to control from the top but Sims keeps moving.
Sims tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A close round but Zaid Sims will probably get the nod.

Victor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Victor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
You can see the frustration on Sims's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sims is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Victor's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Victor is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sims defends it well.

Victor is looking for submissions but instead, Sims has regained full guard.

Sims drops back, looking for a kneebar! Victor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Victor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Victor!

Victor is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sims is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sims manages to work his way to half guard, despite Victor's best efforts.
