Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Drew DW (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Walters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor Walters acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew DW!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Connor Walters!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DW gets caught flat footed, as Walters shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Walters passes easily into side control. Nice work.
DW sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
DW is trying to get back to full guard.
Walters wants to take a breather but DW is having none of it.
DW is looking for a sweep. Walters is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Walters has eaten all the pies!
DW is looking to control Walters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can DW avoid being mounted?

DW pushes Walters off and gets back to his feet.
Walters defending well as DW loads up on a big left hand.

and Walters counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Walters controlling the action here.
Walters prevents DW from improving his position.

Walters wants to control but DW is keeping him busy.
Walters tries to pass to full mount but DW defends it.

Walters stands up out of the half guard.
DW circles away from the clinch attempt.
DW doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Walters counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DW is breathing heavily.
Walters is looking to take a break and control but DW is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Well, if Walters is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
DW is looking to control Walters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can DW avoid being mounted?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walters trying to control the pace.
DW is trying to control but Walters passes into side control!
Walters trying to control the action but DW is working from the bottom.
DW tries to bench press Walters off him but Walters keeps the position.
Walters controlling from side mount.
Walters laying and praying for a moment but DW takes advantage and regains half guard.

Walters is pressing down on DW's thigh, looking to free his foot. DW is holding on for now.
Walters thows a huge punch but DW dodges it nicely.
DW wants to control but Walters is keeping busy and won't allow it.
DW slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Walters wants to control from the top but DW keeps moving.
DW will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
DW is trying to keep Walters in close.
Walters is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DW shoots and misses
and Walters counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drew DW. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DW avoids the head kick by Walters.
Walters throws a combination. DW tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
DW shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Walters as he avoids it easily.
Walters uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by DW.
Walters pushes DW away with a front kick.
DW rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walters moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Walters walks into a straight right hand from DW.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor Walters dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Walters feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
DW wants to sweep but no luck.
DW wants to stand but Walters is controlling the position.
Walters is working DW over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Walters trying to control the position from guard on top but DW is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
DW lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Walters!
DW looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Walters regains half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walters is looking for a sweep. DW is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Walters is staying active underneath DW, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
DW tries to pass to full mount but Walters defends it.
DW prevents Walters from standing back up.
Walters controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
DW wants to stand up but Walters is controlling the position.
Walters is looking to improve his position.

and Walters counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Walters.
DW wants to sweep here but Walters controlling him for the moment.
Walters controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Walters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
DW looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walters is one step ahead there.

DW controls Walters momentarily but Walters frees himself.
DW keeping moving, preventing Walters from controlling successfully.
Connor Walters has got the better of the ground game so far.

Walters looking to improve position, pressing down on DW's thigh with his hand. DW seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Walters paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Walters's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! DW picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
