PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Draco Lee Bravo (ranked 4159 p4p, 4217 weight class) and John King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Draco Lee Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John King!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than King was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
King working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
King working away.
Bravo tries to buck King off but King is having none of it.
King just content to control the position.
Bravo prevents King from moving into mount.
King tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

King is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bravo has escaped the position, nice work there.
King wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bravo keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King tries to move into full mount but can't pass Bravo's legs.
King trying to control the action but Bravo is working from the bottom.
Bravo parries the strikes from King easily there. King is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bravo to escape.
Bravo seems a little lost for a moment, as King dominates the positioning.
Bravo is trying to control King's posture but King avoids it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bravo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Draco Lee Bravo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

King closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bravo is trying to control King's posture but King avoids it.
King in side control, throwing shots but Bravo defends.
Bravo dodges the ground and pound from King.
You can see the frustration on Bravo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bravo is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King wants to stand but Bravo has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
King is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bravo looking for a sweep. Not yet Bravo, not yet.
Bravo has King pulled in close to control his posture.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bravo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bravo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
King trying to control but Bravo is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

King moves into the clinch.
King misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bravo.
King taking a breather.
King with an attempt at a knee that misses.

King jumps guard and drags Bravo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bravo wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
Bravo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

John King dominated that round.
That's time! Bravo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bravo connects with a single shot there.
Bravo lands with a good body shot.
Bravo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from King.

King shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bravo's guard.
King wants to stand but Bravo is controlling his posture from full guard.
King looking to sit in guard and control but Bravo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bravo trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
King managing to control the position.
King has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Bravo has passed into side control.
King is looking for a sweep.
Bravo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt King will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Bravo trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
King gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
King is squirming around, avoiding Bravo's attempts to control the action.

King tries to improve his position but Bravo has taken his back! Bravo has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will King tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Bravo pushes King away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Draco Lee Bravo!
