PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sockeye Salmon (ranked 4134 p4p, 4242 weight class) and Leroy Wise (ranked 428 p4p, 0 weight class). Wise has chosen creep as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salmon lands the left hand.
Wise takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Wise showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Salmon.
A big left from Salmon misses.
Salmon has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wise.

Wise shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Salmon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wise on the ground.

Wise gets to his feet - Salmon follows without any prompting.
Salmon wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Wise takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Wise breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Wise shoots in and drives through. Salmon sprawls well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Salmon looks to land a combination but Wise avoids it well.
Nice uppercut lands for Salmon. That snapped Wise's head back.
Salmon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wise manages to avoid it.
Salmon stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Salmon clobbers Wise with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Salmon connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Salmon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wise stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Wise has closed the distance and engaged Salmon in a clinch.
Salmon throws a punch but it's blocked by Wise.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Salmon.

A nice right hand lands inside from Salmon.
Wise taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Wise drags the fight down to the ground.
Salmon trying to control the position from guard on top but Wise is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wise trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Wise is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wise throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Wise is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Salmon presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Wise pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wise on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Wise takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Salmon moves into range and connects with a jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wise.
Sockeye Salmon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leroy Wise.
Salmon looks to land a right hand but Wise moved out of range.
Salmon fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wise shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salmon but Salmon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Salmon lands a slapping body shot.
Salmon lands with an uppercut that bounces Wise off the cage and back into range.

Wise pushes Salmon up against the cage in a clinch.

Wise manages to break the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Salmon connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Wise tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Salmon defends well and Wise ends up having to push Salmon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Salmon was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Salmon slaps away a takedown attempt from Wise, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A punch lands to the side of Wise 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Salmon stuffs the takedown.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salmon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Wise is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Salmon feints a jab promting Wise to slip. Salmon then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wise slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Salmon fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Wise on the side of the head.

Wise swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Salmon makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A lazy left from Salmon finds it's target.
Salmon tests Wise's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Salmon lands with a nice body punch.
Wise gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Salmon lands a jab to the nose.
Wise fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Salmon avoids it really well and circles away.

Wise has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Salmon finds it's way round the side to connect with Wise's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A punch lands to the side of Wise 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Sockeye Salmon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wise walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Salmon cracks Wise with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Wise tries to clinch up but Salmon circles away and keeps his distance.
Wise is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Salmon.
A little feinted left hand from Salmon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Salmon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Salmon uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Wise pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Leroy Wise is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wise gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Salmon gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Wise is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
