PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Bismol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez comes to the cage accompanied by blame it on me. Bismol has chosen Here Comes The Pain as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bismol throws a big shot that misses.
Gonzalez tries a low kick but Bismol avoids it.
No luck for Bismol with that takedown attempt.
Bismol shoots in but no luck this time.
Bismol will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Danny Gonzalez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Bismol.
A jab lands there for Bismol.
Bismol works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Bismol shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gonzalez pinned against the cage. Gonzalez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bismol connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gonzalez. Gonzalez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Bismol throws a low kick but Gonzalez avoids it.

Gonzalez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gonzalez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bismol keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gonzalez is taking a breather. Bismol says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Bismol is in all sorts of trouble here.
Bismol sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Gonzalez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bismol on the ground.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gonzalez cracks Bismol with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Gonzalez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
You can see the frustration on Bismol's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bismol is looking for a sweep.

Gonzalez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gonzalez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bismol is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gonzalez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bismol makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bismol.

Gonzalez is looking to take a break and control but Bismol is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bismol is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny Gonzalez will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gonzalez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Gonzalez is trying to control. Bismol wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bismol had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gonzalez is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bismol Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gonzalez's back instead.

Bismol patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Even with his hooks in, Bismol manages to miss with strikes from the back.
