The key to victory for Markku Osteri has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Markku Osteri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mick Outbackerson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Outbackerson gets the takedown into side control.
Outbackerson trying to control the position but Osteri is working away.

Outbackerson tries for a kimura but Osteri is defending well.
Osteri manages to get back to half guard.
Outbackerson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Outbackerson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Osteri is just riding it out for now. Outbackerson eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Osteri manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Outbackerson tries to free his leg and advance position but Osteri is retaining full guard.
Osteri working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Outbackerson.

Outbackerson thows a big elbow that misses.
Osteri manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Outbackerson is squirming around, avoiding Osteri's attempts to control the action.
Outbackerson wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Outbackerson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Outbackerson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Outbackerson has his foot on Osteri's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Osteri works his way back into a safe position though.
Outbackerson looks gassed!

Osteri decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Osteri scores with a one two! Outbackerson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Horrible takedown by Outbackerson or perhaps it was just good defense by Osteri which made him look bad.

Osteri is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Outbackerson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Osteri lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Osteri is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Outbackerson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Outbackerson tries to reverse the position but Osteri maintains control.
Outbackerson tries to hold on but Osteri postures up.
Outbackerson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Outbackerson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Osteri is working for a guillotine from mount but Outbackerson frees his head quite easily.
Outbackerson regains half guard.

Osteri is working for a submission of some sort.
Osteri moves into full mount! Outbackerson won't be happy about that!

Outbackerson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Outbackerson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Outbackerson controls Osteri momentarily but Osteri frees himself.

Outbackerson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Osteri escapes and throws Outbackerson's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Osteri in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Outbackerson is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
