Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gerry McManus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jens Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerry McManus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jens Pulver!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulver is looking to clinch.

Pulver pushes McManus up against the cage in a clinch.
Pulver wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McManus has him pressed against the cage.

McManus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Pulver shoots in and bounces McManus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
McManus avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

and Pulver decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McManus's guard.

McManus pushes Pulver off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
McManus tries to clinch but Pulver moves away

and Pulver counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
McManus tries to roll over but Pulver keeps him under control.
Ground and pound from Pulver.
Pulver uses his free foot to push down on McManus's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McManus.

Pulver is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McManus is surviving well by controlling Pulver's body position as best he can.

McManus tries to hold on but Pulver pushes him away.
McManus is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Pulver won't let McManus get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Pulver breaks from McManus's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Pulver thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pulver postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
McManus is looking to reverse the position.
McManus manages to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pulver seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
McManus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pulver is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jens Pulver dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

McManus fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pulver, pushing him back against the cage.

Pulver throws and elbow that misses. McManus uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pulver's guard. Nice move by McManus!

Pulver had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McManus is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pulver Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McManus's back instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pulver is looking for the choke from the back position but McManus is controlling his hands well.

Pulver is looking for a rear naked choke here but McManus reverses the position brilliantly into Pulver's guard!

Pulver is working an open guard so McManus takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
McManus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pulver moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

I've got Pulver winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
