Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Hawla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Alvarado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Hawla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marco Alvarado!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarado takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Hawla has Alvarado up against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarado goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hawla prevents it.
Hawla misses with a punch on the inside.
Hawla tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Alvarado has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hawla is trying to keep an underhook but Alvarado manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

You can see the frustration on Alvarado's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hawla lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hawla shoots in and drives through. Alvarado sprawls well.
Johnny Hawla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Alvarado gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Alvarado is keen to just control but Hawla is a slippery customer.
Alvarado thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hawla's head.

Hawla wants to get back to full guard.

Alvarado prevents Hawla from improving his position.
Alvarado is nestled in close to Hawla, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Alvarado feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hawla manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alvarado manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hawla throws a head kick but Alvarado moves out of range.

Alvarado closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Alvarado has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hawla is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hawla tightens his grip and picks Alvarado up, before dumping him to the ground. Alvarado manages to land in guard.

Hawla gets to his feet. Alvarado looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Hawla counters with a head kick. That will keep Alvarado thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Hawla shoots in for a double leg but Alvarado sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Alvarado tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Alvarado clinches up with Hawla and pushes him back against the cage.

Hawla escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Alvarado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alvarado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Marco Alvarado comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hawla has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
