PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chigger Digger (ranked 3977 p4p, 4013 weight class) and Tabassi Maruf (ranked 421 p4p, 293 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Maruf's choice of entrance music: L$D. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Digger with a nice cross.
A big right from Digger misses.
Digger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Digger lands a body shot.

Digger tries to keep at a distance but Maruf has taken the fight into the clinch.
Digger tries to throw a body punch but Maruf avoids it by throwing Digger back against the cage.
Maruf working hard to break the clinch.
Digger lands with a left to the head.
Digger lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Maruf backwards.

Maruf has hold of one of Digger's legs. Digger is fighting the takedown attempt but Maruf gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Maruf wants to pass the guard but Digger is keeping the position.
Maruf slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Let's hope that Maruf has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Still in half guard, Maruf seems content to control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maruf has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Maruf tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
It looks like Maruf might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Maruf.
Poor strikes thrown by Maruf there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Digger can't escape the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tabassi Maruf dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Maruf shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Digger sends Maruf crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Digger is motioning to the referee to let Maruf up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Digger lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Maruf at a distance.

Digger lands a big right hand that sends Maruf crashing to the mat! Digger stays standing though and waves Maruf back to his feet!
Digger closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Maruf! Digger dives in looking to finish! Maruf is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
