PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Janu Haperenu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sinister Miro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miro comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Overdose kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Janu Haperenu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sinister Miro!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miro is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Haperenu.
Miro tries to close the distance and clinch but Haperenu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Haperenu fails with a takedown attempt.
Haperenu shoots in for a double leg but Miro sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Haperenu shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Janu Haperenu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Haperenu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miro wants to get back to his feet.
Miro can't do much from the bottom here.

Haperenu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Haperenu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Haperenu goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Miro has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Haperenu but great work by Miro.

Miro tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Haperenu tries to buck Miro off but Miro is having none of it.
Haperenu is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Miro off and has taken his back!

Miro is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Haperenu gets his way!

Miro is having to fend off submission attempts from Haperenu, who is looking to sink in the choke. Haperenu doesn't have the hooks in though and Miro manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Haperenu had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Miro is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Haperenu Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Miro's back instead.
Miro wants to get back to his feet.

Haperenu is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Miro knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Miro for a finish.

I really don't envy Miro right now.

Haperenu has got his arm under Miro's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Miro has spun round into Haperenu's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Miro would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Haperenu looking for subs off his back but Miro has passed one foot through into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Miro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Haperenu to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Haperenu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Miro dives on top into guard.

Haperenu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Miro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haperenu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Haperenu is looking for a kimura here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Haperenu is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Miro defends it well.

Haperenu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miro is just riding it out for now. Haperenu eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Haperenu looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Haperenu is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Miro doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Haperenu.

Haperenu wants to work for an arm triangle but Miro is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Haperenu is looking to advance position but Miro won't allow it.

Miro makes his way to full guard, as Haperenu worked for a kimura.

Haperenu is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Miro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Miro has escaped and now he's on top!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Miro wants to control from the top but Haperenu keeps moving.

Haperenu has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Miro is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Haperenu.
Haperenu tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Miro wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miro tries to move into full mount but can't pass Haperenu's legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Haperenu blocks a jab.

Haperenu throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miro was covering up waiting for the punch and Haperenu finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Haperenu drops back looking for a leg! Miro is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Miro manages to kick Haperenu off! Haperenu jumps back into Miro's guard.

Haperenu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Miro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Haperenu has Miro in his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Haperenu patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Miro holding both Haperenu 's hands and preventing any damage.

Haperenu looking to break Miro's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Miro remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Haperenu will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Haperenu working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Janu Haperenu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Haperenu goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Miro escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Haperenu is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Miro is tapping! Great win for Haperenu!
