Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Retri Paladin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Kakko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Retri Paladin had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paladin misses with a body shot.
Retri Paladin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paladin moves into range and connects with a jab.

It looks like Tony Kakko has been cut.
Paladin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kakko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Paladin swivels and escapes.
Paladin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kakko circles away quickly and effectively.
Paladin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Paladin stuns Kakko with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kakko moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Paladin moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

That has opened up Tony Kakko's cut even more.
No joy there for Paladin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Paladin lands a nice hook to Kakko's body. Kakko takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Paladin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kakko looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Paladin throws a right hand that Kakko ducks under and follows up with a left that Kakko also avoids with ease.

Paladin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kakko looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Paladin tries to bum rush Kakko with a series of wild strikes but Kakko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Paladin lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

The cut above Tony Kakko's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Paladin works the jab nicely.
Paladin digs a good hook to Kakko's body.
Paladin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Paladin misses with the combination.
Kakko doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Paladin thows a body shot but no joy.
Paladin tries to clinch up but Kakko circles away and keeps his distance.
Paladin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A left and a right from Paladin both land. Nice combination.
Kakko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Paladin pinned against the cage. Paladin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Retri Paladin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Kakko.

Kakko drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Paladin wants to stand and escape but Kakko is having none of it.

Kakko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Paladin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Paladin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Paladin!
A lull in the action here as Paladin stalls from top position.
Kakko tries to buck Paladin off but Paladin is having none of it.

Paladin stands up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Paladin throws a nice looking combination but Kakko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Paladin throws a shot to the body.
Paladin misses with a straight right.
Paladin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kakko fails with a takedown attempt.
Kakko showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Paladin.
Kakko takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kakko is breathing heavily.
Kakko has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Paladin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Paladin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kakko moves away.
Paladin misses with a few strikes there.
Kakko walks into a stiff left hand from Paladin.
Kakko closes the distance and clinches up with Paladin, looking for a takedown. Kakko pushes Paladin against the cage but Paladin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Paladin throws a jab but it's blocked by Kakko.

Paladin leaves Kakko with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tony Kakko's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Paladin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kakko momentarily.
Kakko tries for a takedown but Paladin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Paladin throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Retri Paladin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
