PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalle Anka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Filipovi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Filipovi has chosen Engel- Rammstein as his entrance music. On his way into the ring it seems that Kalle Anka has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kalle Anka seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mirko Filipovi!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filipovi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Anka dives in and grabs Filipovi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Filipovi pushes down on Anka's head and hops out.

Anka looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Filipovi is fending him off so far but Anka persists. Nope, Filipovi circles away and we're back to standing.

I really don't envy Anka right now.
Filipovi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anka. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Filipovi has the hooks in. Anka is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Filipovi is trying to stick to Anka's back but Anka is turning into Filipovi. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Filipovi's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Anka.

Filipovi is looking to stand up but Anka isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Anka closes the distance looking to clinch
and Filipovi counters with a low kick, right behind Anka 's knee.

Filipovi throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Filipovi thuds his shin into the meat of Anka's side.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Filipovi lands a head kick. Anka smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Filipovi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Anka will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Filipovi. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Anka seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Filipovi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Anka looks to land a strike but Filipovi avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Filipovi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

I would just about give that final round to Mirko Filipovi.
