PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mat Moseley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Park (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mat Moseley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Park!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Park fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Park displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Moseley.
A lazy left from Moseley finds it's target.

Park closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Moseley manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Moseley manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

and Moseley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Park won't be happy with that.
Park really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moseley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Park postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Moseley looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Park lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Park dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Park fails with the takedown
and Moseley counters with a straight right hand.

Moseley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Moseley lands in his opponent's guard.

Park bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Moseley's guard.

Moseley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Park gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Park must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Moseley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Moseley moves nicely into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Park is looking for a sweep.
Moseley wants to control but Park is keeping him busy.
Park is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Moseley's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Moseley wants to stand up but Park is controlling the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Moseley bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Park's head backwards.

Park is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Park can do anything to dispel that myth.

Moseley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Park is aware though and is defending well.

Park got a little sloppy there for a moment and Moseley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Park has managed to get both his arms back between Moseley's legs - danger averted.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
