Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Corey Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franek Kimono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Corey Nichols!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Franek Kimono!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nichols throws a one two combo.
Nichols really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kimono.
Kimono trying to control the position but Nichols is working away.
Kimono laying and praying for a moment but Nichols takes advantage and regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nichols tries to kick Kimono off but Kimono keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Nichols kicks Kimono off and gets back to his feet.
Nichols lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Nichols.
The fighters circle momentarily. Nichols darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Nichols stuns Kimono with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nichols scores with a jab to the jaw.
Nice takedown defense from Nichols. No joy for Kimono on that attempt.

A decent looking cross lands there for Nichols.

Nichols kicks off Kimono and gets to his feet.
Nichols cracks Kimono with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nichols scores with a jab.
Nichols throws a one two combo.
Nichols fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Corey Nichols seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nichols throws a big shot that misses.
Kimono walks into a jab.
Nice jab there from Nichols.
Nichols is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Nichols keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nichols lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Nichols throws a right hand that Kimono ducks under and follows up with a left that Kimono also avoids with ease.
Nichols lands a glancing blow to the side of Kimono's head.
Nichols smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Nichols is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Nichols changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kimono looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Nichols wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kimono keeps working.
Kimono strikes from the bottom but Nichols takes advantage and advances to full mount!
Nichols looking to control but Kimono is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kimono tries to hold on but Nichols postures up.
Kimono sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kimono manages to get to full guard.

Kimono is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kimono is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Corey Nichols will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nichols bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kimono's head backwards.
Nichols lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nichols takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nichols throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kimono shoots and misses
and Nichols counters with a series of strikes. Kimono will be more careful next time no doubt.
Nichols thuds his right hand into Kimono's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Corey Nichols has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franek Kimono.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kimono moves forwards but Nichols connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nichols misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kimono is breathing heavily.

Nichols shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Kimono has his foot on Nichols's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nichols works his way back into a safe position though.

Nichols wants to control from the top but Kimono keeps moving.
Nichols wanted to stand there but Kimono had control of the position.
Kimono keeping moving, preventing Nichols from controlling successfully.

Kimono throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nichols escapes and throws Kimono's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Nichols decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kimono to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nichols throws a right hand that Kimono ducks under and follows up with a left that Kimono also avoids with ease.
Nichols fails with the takedown

and Kimono counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kimono has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Nichols defend it? Kimono steps over the head and cranks it - Nichols is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kimono!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Franek Kimono!
