PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between General Ice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cicero Cobra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, General Ice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cicero Cobra!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ice blocks a head kick by Cobra.
Ice throws a nice looking combination but Cobra bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ice gets caught flat footed, as Cobra shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ice manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cobra manages to get himself to full guard.

Ice closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ice connects with a nice short shot to Cobra's temple.

Cobra is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Cobra is pressed up against the cage. Ice has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cobra down to the mat. Cobra avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Cobra throws a head kick that Ice semi-blocks.
Ice shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cobra pinned against the cage. Cobra gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that General Ice will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cicero Cobra showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

General Ice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cicero Cobra.

Cobra had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ice is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cobra Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ice's back instead.

I would just about give that final round to Cicero Cobra.
I think Cobra has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
