Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Abe Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abe Patterson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Edgar Reynolds!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reynolds tries to clinch up.
Reynolds tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Patterson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Patterson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reynolds is fending him off so far but Patterson persists. Nope, Reynolds circles away and we're back to standing.
Patterson misses with a takedown attempt - Reynolds sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Reynolds tries to clinch up.
Reynolds tries to clinch but Patterson is having none of it.
A clash of legs there as Reynolds blocks the low kick.
Reynolds fails in his attempt to clinch.
Reynolds moves in looking to clinch but Patterson pushes him off.

Reynolds darts in and clinches Patterson up against the ropes.
Reynolds lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Patterson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Reynolds prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abe Patterson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reynolds is working Patterson over against the ropes.

Patterson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Reynolds uses from the top position.

Patterson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Reynolds is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Patterson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Reynolds's back instead.

Patterson looking to break Reynolds's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Reynolds remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Patterson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Reynolds rolls, trying to escape but Patterson keeps control of the position.
Will Patterson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Reynolds covering up well and avoiding damage.
Reynolds is trying to break free.
Reynolds looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Patterson struggling to keep hold of the position.
Patterson is trying to control but Reynolds is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Reynolds wants to hold on but Patterson pushes him away.
Reynolds is squirming around, avoiding Patterson's attempts to control the action.
Patterson is trying to take his opponent's back.
Patterson tries to take Reynolds's back but instead Reynolds uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Reynolds trying to control from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Reynolds is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Patterson is defended easily by Reynolds.
Reynolds tries to clinch up.
Reynolds tries to clinch up.

Patterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Reynolds can't do much from the bottom here.

Patterson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reynolds looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Reynolds napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Reynolds is looking for a sweep.

Patterson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Reynolds, who protects the arm well.
Reynolds really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Patterson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Patterson is breathing heavily.

Patterson is working to tighten is grip on Reynolds's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Reynolds has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Patterson is really squeezing tight and eventually Reynolds passes out! Patterson breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Abe Patterson!
