The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Johnson seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Thomas is holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jonas Johnson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Thomas is breathing heavily.
Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Thomas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Thomas.
