PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Red Beard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Obo Lazquo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Obo Lazquo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Red Beard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beard tries to clinch there but Lazquo circles away.
Beard wants to clinch up but Lazquo keeps it at a distance.
Beard swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lazquo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Beard pushes Lazquo up against the cage in a clinch.
Lazquo tries to pull guard but Beard holds him up against the cage and eventually Lazquo drops back down to his feet.
Beard tries to land knees in the clinch but Lazquo avoids the damage to the body.
Lazquo is trying to maintain a safe position but Beard gets an underhook and turns Lazquo into the cage.
Lazquo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Beard smiles and moves away.

Lazquo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lazquo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Beard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lazquo on the ground.
Lazquo is looking to advance position but Beard won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lazquo is taking a breather. Beard says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lazquo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Beard!
Lazquo prevents Beard from getting the reversal.
Beard reaches up to try and control the position but Lazquo seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Beard rolls and tries to escape and now Lazquo has his back!
Lazquo misses with an elbow to the head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lazquo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Beard knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Beard for a finish.

Lazquo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Beard has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Beard rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Lazquo wants to pass the guard but Beard is defending well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lazquo tries to pass to full mount but Beard defends it.
Lazquo wants to take a breather but Beard is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obo Lazquo dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Beard misses with a jab, cross combination.
Beard fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lazquo moves in looking to clinch but Beard pushes him off.

Beard has Lazquo up against the cage in a clinch.
Beard tries to break the clinch but Lazquo is controlling the position.
Beard scores a nice knee to the body.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Nice elbow from Beard.
Beard is trying to break free.

Beard breaks from the clinch.
Beard connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Lazquo tumbling to the canvas! Beard pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Lazquo was done - good stoppage!
