PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Lindblad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andreas Lindblad!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lindblad doesn't manage to clinch there - Bishop circles away.

Bishop feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lindblad working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bishop doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bishop manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bishop wants to control from the top but Lindblad keeps moving.

Lindblad wants to get back to his feet but Bishop is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bishop thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Bishop looks for a takedown but Lindblad sprawls well.
Bishop has a takedown stuffed.
Lindblad tries to clinch but Bishop is having none of it.
Lindblad stuffs the takedown attempt from Bishop. Bishop gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Bishop. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bishop is breathing heavily.
Lindblad fakes the leg kick and cracks Bishop in the body.

Lindblad takes the fight into the clinch.

Lindblad receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Bishop tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Bishop gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lindblad regains guard.
Lindblad is trying to keep Bishop in close.
Bishop trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lindblad can't keep his opponent in guard - Bishop advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lindblad wants to control but Bishop is keeping busy.
Bishop is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Lindblad is trying to maintain the position but Bishop is very close to passing his half guard.

Lindblad is looking to improve his position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Bishop will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bishop will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Well, if Bishop is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bishop is working for a submission of some sort.
Lindblad tries to roll over but Bishop keeps him under control.
Lindblad is looking to control Bishop's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lindblad avoid being mounted?

Lindblad wants to control but Bishop is keeping busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bishop is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bishop tries to pass to full mount but Lindblad defends it.
Lindblad wants to get back to his feet.
Lindblad trying to hold on to Bishop's head to control him but Bishop postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bishop darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Bishop is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lindblad trying to control from the bottom.
Bishop content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bishop is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lindblad doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bishop.

Bishop is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lindblad knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bishop has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lindblad is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Bishop yanks on the arm and Lindblad is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Bishop.
