Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Philip Russel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jakh Bond!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russel shoots in looking for a takedown. Bond tries to sprawl out of it but Russel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Bond manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bond tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Russel fails to land with a series of punches.
Bond with a lazy takedown attempt
and Bond takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Bond clinches.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Bond has Russel pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Russel manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Russel pushes Bond up against the ropes in a clinch.
Bond's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Russel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bond tries to close the distance and clinch but Russel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Russel looks for a takedown but Bond sprawls well.
Russel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bond circles away quickly and effectively.
Bond shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bond takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Philip Russel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakh Bond.

Russel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Russel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bond's guard.
Russel wants to stand but Bond has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bond should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bond has eaten all the pies!
Bond looks gassed!
Russel looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Bond doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Russel counters with a left and a right that stings Bond.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Russel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bond.

Russel drops Bond with a left right combo! Russel follows him down to the ground into side control.


Bond is rocked!

Russel decides to stand back up. Russel steps back and let's Bond get back to his feet.

Russel clinches up against the ropes.
A short body shot lands from Russel as the two fighters clinch.

Russel breaks from the clinch.
Bond moves forwards but Russel connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Russel scores with a body shot.
Bond takes one to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Russel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bond sprawls well initially but Russel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Russel stands up and beckons Bond to join him on the feet.

Russel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bond throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Bond gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Bond tries to lock up and control but Russel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Russel is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Bond scores a takedown into full mount!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bond goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Russel is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Russel wants to stand but Bond is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Russel throws a right and a left that Bond avoids nicely.
Bond closes the distance but Russel moves to the side

and Russel counters with a single leg into guard. Bond didn't expect that.
Bond trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Russel gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Russel catches Bond with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Russel scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Russel connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bond momentarily.

Russel rushes Bond and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Russel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Russel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bond can do to turn this around?

Bond takes a jab right on the kisser.
Russel goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Russel takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Russel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Russel stalks Bond and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bond's face. Bond staggers backwards, shaken.
Russel is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Bond takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A left and a right from Russel both land. Nice combination.
Russel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bond misses with a takedown
and Russel counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Russel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bond is fending him off so far but Russel persists. Nope, Bond circles away and we're back to standing.

Russel lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Russel misses with a few strikes there.
No joy there for Bond, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bond seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Russel wants to improve his position but Bond is controlling well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bond seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Russel manages to get to full guard.
Bond looking to sit in guard and control but Russel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bond tries to move into range but Russel moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Russel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Philip Russel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
