Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Hawerchuk!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawerchuk closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Hawerchuk pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Hawerchuk.
Hawerchuk throws a front kick that sends Jackson stumbling back into the cage.
Jackson cracks Hawerchuk with a right hand to the side of the head.

Hawerchuk tries to keep at a distance but Jackson has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jackson taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Hawerchuk decides to pull guard.
Hawerchuk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jackson stopping the sweep attempt from Hawerchuk.
Jackson is looking to stand up but Hawerchuk won't let him.
Hawerchuk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jackson looking to pass the guard.
Hawerchuk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Hawerchuk is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jackson has his foot on Hawerchuk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hawerchuk works his way back into a safe position though.
Hawerchuk wanted to stand there but Jackson had control of the position.
Hawerchuk trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jackson controlling the position well.
Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hawerchuk is working away from the top position though.

Still in half guard, Hawerchuk seems content to control.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hawerchuk on the ground.
Jackson tries to get to full guard but Hawerchuk has control of the leg.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Jackson is working hard here to advance position.
Hawerchuk wants to stand up but Jackson has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hawerchuk wants to free his trapped foot but Jackson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jackson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hawerchuk sprawls well initially but Jackson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hawerchuk wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hawerchuk is trying to stand.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hawerchuk dodges the punch combination from Jackson.
Hawerchuk doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jackson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hawerchuk looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.
Hawerchuk wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hawerchuk throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Jackson wants to control from the top but Hawerchuk keeps moving.
Hawerchuk is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Jackson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hawerchuk!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawerchuk tries to reverse the position but Jackson maintains control.

Jackson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hawerchuk for as long as he can get away with.
Hawerchuk tries to lock up and control but Jackson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hawerchuk is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Jackson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hawerchuk can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Poor strikes thrown by Jackson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jackson has control of Hawerchuk's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hawerchuk regains control of the situation pretty easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hawerchuk really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Jackson has hold of Hawerchuk's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hawerchuk manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hawerchuk is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hawerchuk sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hawerchuk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hawerchuk closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Hawerchuk pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Quinton Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hawerchuk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.
Jackson is trying to control the position but Hawerchuk postures up.
Hawerchuk thows a big elbow that misses.

Jackson is working an open guard so Hawerchuk takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hawerchuk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackson can't do much from the bottom here.
Jackson is trying to get back to half guard.

Chuck Hawerchuk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
