The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Figueroa takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses.
Figueroa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Figueroa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Figueroa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Figueroa!

Figueroa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gracie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Figueroa stands up and beckons Gracie to his feet.
Figueroa swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Figueroa lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Gracie sprawling to the canvas. Figueroa follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Gracie hang on?
