PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ebanij Nasos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nasos kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Military Soviet Hymn . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Evans!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Nasos catches Evans right on the button with a cross.


It looks like Rob Evans has been cut.
Nasos blocks a jab.

Evans shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Evans showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Nasos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Evans is working away from the top position though.

Evans is trying to control the action in half guard but Nasos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Evans is stalling here. Nasos is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Evans seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Nasos has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Nasos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Nasos is working an open guard so Evans takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Nasos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Evans lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Evans changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nasos looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Evans looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nasos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ebanij Nasos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ebanij Nasos will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Evans cracks Nasos with an open hand slap.
Evans defending well as Nasos loads up on a big left hand.
Evans takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Evans closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nasos to the mat! Nasos manages to get full guard.
Evans is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Evans drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Evans jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Nasos had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Evans is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nasos Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Evans's back instead.

Evans might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nasos kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Evans working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Evans seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nasos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nasos manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Evans fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nasos sprawls well initially but Evans persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Evans is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

I would just about give that final round to Rob Evans.
I think Evans has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
