Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mathew Matterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fransico Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matterson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dead by April - What can I say. Mathew Matterson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior looks to score with a jab to the body but Matterson is just out of range.

Matterson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Matterson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Matterson tries to pull guard but Junior won't allow it.

Matterson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A lazy left from Matterson finds it's target.
Junior connects with a looping right hand.
Junior showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Matterson.

Junior throws the left hand but Matterson avoids the punch easily.

Matterson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Junior's guard.

Matterson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Junior looks to score with a jab to the body but Matterson is just out of range.
Junior throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Junior is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Matterson rather than just go for the knockout.
Matterson tries to clinch but Junior moves out of range.

Junior throws a hook to the side of Matterson's head but Matterson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Junior throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Matterson was covering up waiting for the punch and Junior finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Junior stands up over Matterson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Matterson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Junior defends well.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Junior accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Junior drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Junior jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Junior wants to control from the top but Matterson keeps moving.
Junior looks gassed!
Junior thows a big elbow that misses.
Junior distracts Matterson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Matterson has his foot on Junior's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Junior works his way back into a safe position though.

Matterson wants to improve his position but Junior is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fransico Junior dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Matterson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Junior showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Matterson.
A slow jab from Junior misses its intended target.
Junior fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Matterson manages to avoid it.

Junior looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Junior looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Junior throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Junior thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Matterson's head.

Matterson tries to get to full guard but Junior has control of the leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Junior landing strikes, looking to finish!
Matterson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Junior jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Matterson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Matterson and Junior has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Junior looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Junior wants to control but Matterson is keeping him busy.

Junior throws an elbow but Matterson slips to the side and avoids it well.

Junior tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Junior has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Matterson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Junior asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Matterson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Junior wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Junior has hold of Matterson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Matterson seems comfortable defending it but Junior has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Matterson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Matterson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Junior couldn't care less - he's delighted!
