Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zakai Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Larsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobby Larsen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zakai Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Larsen!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larsen misses with a double jab.
Good work by Turner as he checks the leg kick.
Larsen doesn't manage to clinch there - Turner circles away.
Turner throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Bobby Larsen has been cut.
Larsen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Larsen tries for a takedown but Turner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Turner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Larsen is trying to get back to half guard.

Turner decides to stand back up.
Zakai Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner thows a body kick. Larsen tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Turner tries to clinch but Larsen moves out of range.
Larsen throws a nice looking combination but Turner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Larsen misses with a takedown attempt - Turner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Turner shoots for a takedown but Larsen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Larsen does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Turner misses with a few strikes there.
Larsen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Larsen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Turner circles away.
Zakai Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Larsen.
Larsen misses with a wild combination.
Larsen looks gassed!
Turner shoots in but no luck this time.
Turner slips a jab and a cross from Larsen.

Turner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Larsen, pushing him back against the cage.

Turner has Larsen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Larsen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Larsen misses with a short punch on the inside.

Turner gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Turner won't allow Larsen to sweep him here.

Larsen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Larsen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Turner controls the pace.
Turner tries to stand but Larsen is controlling from the bottom.
Larsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Turner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd cheers as Turner lands an impressive looking overhand right. Larsen doesn't seem phased though.
Larsen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Larsen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Turner was well out of range. Poor timing from Larsen.

The fighters circling - Larsen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A big right from Larsen misses.
Turner takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Turner shoots in looking for a takedown. Larsen tries to sprawl out of it but Turner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Larsen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Turner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Turner has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Larsen uses from the top position.

Turner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Larsen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Turner is proving hard to escape from.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Larsen shoots for a double leg takedown but Turner sprawls well. He's pushed Larsen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Turner misses with a head kick.

Turner misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Larsen connects with a jab.

and Turner counters with a nice double leg into side control. Larsen won't be happy with that.

Turner gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Larsen regains guard.

Turner gets to his feet - Larsen follows without any prompting.
Larsen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Larsen.

Turner slips a nice elbow through Larsen's hands, connecting with Larsen's forehead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Turner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Turner lands in his opponent's guard.
Turner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Turner jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Larsen walks away with a smile on his face. Turner gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Turner tries to close the distance and clinch but Larsen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Turner throws a combination that misses
enabling Larsen to counter with a crisp jab.
Larsen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Larsen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Turner moves into full guard.
Bobby Larsen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Turner pulls Larsen in close to prevent any damage.

Zakai Turner is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Larsen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Turner defends it well.

Well Turner has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
