PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Tchersov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norman Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Norman Foster told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Nikolai Tchersov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Norman Foster!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tchersov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Foster wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Foster is pressed up against the ropes. Tchersov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Foster down to the mat. Foster avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Foster throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tchersov staying out of range there.
Foster tests Tchersov's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Nikolai Tchersov has been cut.

Tchersov has managed to clinch.
Foster tries to circle away but Tchersov has him pinned against the ropes.

Foster manages to break the clinch.
Tchersov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Foster.
Foster throws a hook to the side of Tchersov's head but Tchersov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Foster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Foster loads up on a big right hand but Tchersov slips the punch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Foster has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Foster's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tchersov avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Foster tries to bum rush Tchersov with a series of wild strikes but Tchersov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foster connects with a nice looking jab.
Foster misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Foster, as that shot connected.

Tchersov darts in and clinches Foster up against the ropes.
Foster looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A nice left hand lands by Foster.
Foster working hard to break the clinch.
Foster wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Tchersov is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Foster can't fight it off and eventually Tchersov manages to take the fight to the floor. Foster looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Tchersov trying to control the position from guard on top but Foster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tchersov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Foster pushes Tchersov away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tchersov gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tchersov cracks Foster with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The referee asks Tchersov politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tchersov prefers to stall for the moment though.
Tchersov wants to control but Foster is keeping him busy.
Foster is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Tchersov throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Tchersov is looking to take a break and control but Foster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Foster is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Tchersov has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Tchersov taking a breather here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Tchersov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Foster but Foster pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Foster throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tchersov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Foster paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tchersov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Foster.
Foster misses the jab.
Tchersov blocks a jab.
Norman Foster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Foster misses with a looping right.
Tchersov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice defenses there by Tchersov.
Tchersov gets cracked there but stands up to it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Foster waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Tchersov.
Foster throws a jab when Tchersov was well out of range.
Tchersov slips under a jab from Foster.
Tchersov walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Foster darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A slow jab from Foster misses its intended target.
Nice shot by Foster.
Tchersov is breathing heavily.
A decent looking cross lands there for Foster.


Nikolai Tchersov's cut is getting worse.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tchersov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Tchersov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Foster throws a hook but Tchersov blocks it.
Tchersov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tchersov on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Norman Foster dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nikolai Tchersov's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Foster throws the left hand but Tchersov avoids the punch easily.
Foster might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Foster waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Tchersov.
Foster looks to land a right hand but Tchersov moved out of range.
Foster swats away the attempt to clinch by Tchersov.
Foster tries to clinch

and Tchersov moves into the clinch.
A short uppercut from Foster.
Foster wants to get back to striking at distance but Tchersov won't allow it.
Foster swings wildly with an uppercut but Tchersov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tchersov goes for a takedown attempt but Foster pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tchersov avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tchersov defending well as Foster loads up on a big left hand.
Tchersov moves forwards but Foster connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Foster lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Tchersov falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Norman Foster!
