PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Justin Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blue Dawn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Moore might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I Could Kick Your Ass. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Blue Dawn!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore fails with an attempt to clinch.

Moore drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Moore will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moore wants to stand and escape but instead Dawn has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Moore looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dawn is one step ahead there.
Dawn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dawn content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moore is trying to control the position but Dawn postures up.
Dawn throwing strikes from guard but Moore blocks nicely.
Moore keeping moving, preventing Dawn from controlling successfully.
Dawn stopping the sweep attempt from Moore.
Moore utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dawn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Moore shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Moore was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Moore can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dawn is looking to escape.
Dawn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Moore takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dawn is in all sorts of trouble here.

Moore goes for an armbar but Dawn turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Dawn.
Dawn with a flurry of punches that miss.

Dawn has gone for a leg lock! Moore slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dawn's guard.
Dawn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dawn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moore is one step ahead there.

Dawn is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Dawn looks gassed!

Dawn isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Moore stacks Dawn on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Moore!
A lull in the action here as Moore stalls from top position.
Moore knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dawn on the ground.
Dawn is not content to let Moore control the position.
Moore advances to full mount.

Moore stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Moore looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dawn takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Moore throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dawn's waist but Dawn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Moore off to one side.

and Moore counters by moving into the clinch.
Dawn drops down looking for an ankle pick but Moore pulls his leg out and moves away.

Moore closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dawn to the mat! Dawn manages to get full guard.

Dawn had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Moore is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Dawn Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Moore's back instead.
Moore turns into Dawn and is now in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Moore dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Moore trying to control but Dawn is working from the bottom.
Dawn thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Moore stopping the sweep attempt from Dawn.
Moore forces his way into half guard.
Dawn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dawn gets full guard.
Dawn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moore is one step ahead there.
Dawn has his hands on Moore's head, controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moore showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Moore drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Moore jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dawn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Moore can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dawn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Moore wants to control from the top but Dawn keeps moving.

Dawn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Moore gets to his feet - Dawn follows without any prompting.

Moore closes the distance and clinches.
Dawn is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Moore gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore stalls.
Moore is trying to stall.
Moore prevents a takedown attempt there.
Moore crunches a lovely knee into Dawn's ribcage.
Moore prevents the takedown attempt.
Justin Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blue Dawn.
Dawn letting Moore take a breather here.

Dawn is fighting off a takedown attempt but Moore is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dawn to the mat. Dawn regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Moore tries to free his leg and advance position but Dawn is retaining full guard.

Moore has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dawn to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Moore is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dawn pulls down on the head and he's put Moore to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Blue Dawn!
